3.TheRENisusedtodeterminethenumberofdevicesthatmaybeconnected
toatelephoneline.ExcessiveRENsonatelephonelinemayresultinthe
devicesnotringinginresponsetoanincomingcall.Inmostbutnotallareas,
thesumofRENsshouldnotexceedve(5.0).Tobecertainofthenumber
ofdevicesthatmaybeconnectedtoaline,asdeterminedbythetotal
RENs,contactthelocaltelephonecompany.TheRENforthisproductis
partoftheproductidentierthathastheformatUS:AAAEQ##TXXXX.The
digitsrepresentedby##aretheRENwithoutadecimalpoint(e.g.,03isa
RENof0.3).
4.Ifthebuilt-inmodemcausesharmtothetelephonenetwork,thetelephone
companymaydiscontinueyourservicetemporarily.Ifpossible,theywillnotify
youinadvance.But,ifadvancenoticeisntpractical,youwillbenotied
assoonaspossible.Youwillbeadvisedofyourrighttoleacomplaint
withtheFCC.
5.Yourtelephonecompanymaymakechangesinitsfacilities,equipment,
operations,orproceduresthatcouldaffecttheproperoperationofyour
equipment.Iftheydo,youwillbegivenadvancenoticesoastogiveyouan
opportunitytomaintainuninterruptedservice.
6.Nocustomerrepairsarepossibletothemodem.Ifyouexperiencetrouble
withthisbuilt-inmodem,contactyourLenovoAuthorizedSeller,orthe
CustomerSupportCenter.Forthemostcurrentphonenumbers,goto
http://www.lenovo.com/think/supportandclickSupportphonelist.The
telephonecompanymayaskyoutodisconnectthisequipmentfromthe
networkuntiltheproblemhasbeencorrected,oruntilyouaresurethe
equipmentisnotmalfunctioning.
7.Themodemmaynotbeusedoncoinserviceprovidedbythetelephone
company.Connectiontopartylinesissubjecttostatetariffs.Contactyour
statepublicutilitycommissionorcorporationcommissionforinformation.
8.Whenorderingnetworkinterface(NI)servicefromtheLocalExchangeCarrier,
specifyservicearrangementUSOCRJ11C.
9.Aplugandjackusedtoconnectthisequipmenttothepremiseswiring
andtelephonenetworkmustcomplywiththeapplicableFCCPart68rules
andrequirementsadoptedbytheACTA.Acomplianttelephonecordand
modularplugisprovidedwiththisproduct.Itisdesignedtobeconnectedto
acompatiblemodularjackthatisalsocompliant.Seeinstallationinstructions
fordetails.
10.Ifyourhomehasspeciallywiredalarmequipmentconnectedtothetelephone
line,ensuretheinstallationofthisData/FaxModemdoesnotdisableyour
alarmequipment.Ifyouhavequestionsaboutwhatwilldisablealarm
equipment,consultyourtelephonecompanyoraqualiedinstaller.
