Solution:Checkwhetheranexternalmonitorwasdisconnectedorturnedoffwhilethecomputerwas
insleepmode.Ifyoudisconnectedorturnedofftheexternalmonitor,connectitorturnitonbefore
resumingthecomputerfromthesleepmode.Whenresumingthecomputerfromthesleepmodewithout
attachingtheexternalmonitororturningiton,andthecomputerdisplayremainsblank,pressFn+F7to
bringupthecomputerdisplay.
•Problem:Thecomputerdoesnotreturnfromsleepmode,orthesleepindicatorstaysonandthe
computerdoesnotwork.
Solution:Ifthesystemdoesnotreturnfromsleepmode,itmayhaveenteredsleeporhibernationmode
automaticallybecausethebatteryisdepleted.Checkthesleepindicator.
–Ifthesleepindicatorison,yourcomputerisinsleepmode.Connecttheacpoweradaptertothe
computer,thenpressFn.
–Ifthesleepindicatorisoff,yourcomputerisinhibernationmodeorpower-offstate.Connecttheac
poweradaptertothecomputer,thenpressthepowerbuttontoresumeoperation.
Ifthesystemstilldoesnotreturnfromsleepmode,yoursystemmaystoprespondingandyoumaynotbe
abletoturnoffthecomputer.Inthiscase,youneedtoresetthecomputer.Ifyouhavenotsavedyour
data,itmaybelost.Toresetthecomputer,pressandholdthepowerbuttonfor4secondsormore.Ifthe
systemisstillnotreset,removetheacpoweradapterandthebattery.
•Problem:Yourcomputerdoesnotentersleeporhibernationmode.
Solution:Checkwhetheranyoptionhasbeenselectedtodisableyourcomputerfromenteringsleep
orhibernationmode.
Ifyourcomputertriestoentersleepmodebuttherequestisrejected,thedeviceintheUSBconnector
mightbedisabled.Ifthisoccurs,doahot-unplug-and-plugoperationfortheUSBdevice.

–Whenyoucarryyourcomputer.
Thisisanormalcharacteristicofaharddiskdriveandisnotadefect.
