ActiveDirectoryprovidesamechanismthatgivesadministratorstheabilitytomanagecomputers,groups,
endusers,domains,securitypolicies,andanytypeofuser-definedobjects.ThemechanismsusedbyActive
DirectorytoaccomplishthisareknownasGroupPolicyandAdministrativeTemplatefiles(ADM).WithGroup
PolicyandADMfiles,administratorsdefinesettingsthatcanbeappliedtocomputersorusersinthedomain.

AddingAdministrativeTemplates
Designedtosaveyourtimeandeffort,LenovoprovidesanAdministrativeTemplatefile,'tvtacad.adm',which
canbeusedwithGroupPolicytosettheconfigurationpoliciesforAccessConnections.Thetvtacad.adm
filecanbedownloadedfromLenovoWebsite.
CompletethefollowingstepsforaddingtheAccessConnectionsAdministrativeTemplate(ADMfile)to
theGroupPolicyeditor:
Requirement:Server2003or2008runningActiveDirectoryDomainServices
1.PreparetheActiveDirectoryserver/clientenvironment.
2.InstalllatestAccessConnectionsonclientmachine.
3.Ontheactivedirectoryserver:
a.Openthe"GroupPolicyManagement"consoleonthemachinerunningtheActiveDirectoryserver.
b.Rightclick"DefaultDomainPolicy"nodeandselect"Edit..."option.The"GroupPolicyObject
Editor"willbedisplayed.
c.UnderComputerConfiguration(thenPoliciesunderServer2008),rightclickonAdministrative
TemplatesandchooseAdd/RemoveTemplates.
d.PresstheAddbuttonandthenselectthetvtacad.admfile.
e.Presstheclosebuttononthedialogbox.
f.Expandthe"AdministrativeTemplates"key(thenClassicAdministrativeT emplateswithServer2008)
undertheComputerConfiguration.AnewtabnamedLenovoThinkVantageComponentsispresent.
g.UndertheLenovoThinkVantageComponentskeytherewillbeaAccessConnectionstab.Thisis
wheretheavailablesettingscanbeconfigured.
4.ConfigurethedesiredsettingsandexittheGroupPolicyEditor.
5.Ontheclientmachine,openthecommandpromptandtype"gpupdate.exe/force"command.This
shouldupdatetheclientmachinewiththeGroupPolicycontainingthechangesmadeontheActive
Directoryserver.
6.TomakesurethepolicychangesweremadeontheclientPC,checkforthefollowingregistryonthe
clientmachine:
HKLM\Software\Policies\Lenovo\AccessConnections
Forexample:
1.Configure"Disable(remove)thePeertoPeercommunityfeature"toEnabledontheActiveDirectory
server.
2.Ontheclientmachineopenthecommandpromptandtype"gpupdate.exe/force".
3.Youshouldseearegistryvalue,DisablePeertoPeerCommunitywithavaluesetto1under
"HKLM\Software\Policies\Lenovo\AccessConnections"registrykey.
