Thediagnosticsprogramofferstwoharddiskdriveformattingutilities:
•QuickEraseHardDrive
•FullEraseHardDrive
QuickEraseHardDriveprovidesaDOSutilitythatperformsthefollowing:
•DestroystheMasterBootRecord(MBR)ontheharddiskdrive.
•DestroysallcopiesoftheFATTableonallpartitions(boththemasterandbackup).
•Destroysthepartitiontable.
•Providesmessagesthatwarntheuserthatthisisanon-recoverableprocess.
FullEraseHardDriveprovidesaDOSutilitythatperformsthefollowing:
•PerformsallthestepsinQuickErase.
•ProvidesaDOSutilitythatwritesrandomdatatoallsectorsoftheharddiskdrive.
•Providesanestimateoftimetocompletionalongwithavisualrepresentationofcompletionstatus.
•Providesmessagesthatwarntheuseraboutanon-recoverableprocess.
Important:MakesurethatalldataisbackedupbeforeusingtheQuickorFullErasefunctions.
ToselecttheQuickEraseHardDriveorFullEraseHardDriveutility,dothefollowing:
1.SelecttheUTILITYoptiononthetoolbarandpressEnter.
2.SelecteithertheQUICKERASEorFULLERASEHARDDISKoptionandfollowtheinstructionson
thescreen.
Viewingthetestlog
Errorsreportedbythediagnostictestwillbedisplayedbytheprogramasafailedtest.
Toviewdetailsofafailureortoviewalistoftestresults,usethefollowingprocedurefromanytestcategory
screen:
1.PressF3toactivatethelogle.
2.PressF3againtosavetheletodisketteorpressF2toprintthele.
Troubleshootingtables
Usethetroubleshootingtablestondsolutionstoproblemsthathaveidentiablesymptoms.
Ifyouhavejustaddednewsoftwareoranewoptionaldeviceandtheserverisnotworking,dothefollowing
beforeusingthetroubleshootingtables:
1.Checkthesystem-errorLEDontheoperatorinformationpaneltoseeifitislit.
2.Removethesoftwareordevicethatyoujustadded.
3.Runthediagnosticteststodeterminewhethertheserverisrunningcorrectly.
4.Reinstallthenewsoftwareornewdevice.
