CAUTION:

Theheatsinkandmicroprocessormightbeveryhot.Turnofftheserverandwaitthree

toveminutestolettheservercoolbeforeremovingtheservercover.

Toreplacethemicroprocessor,dothefollowing:

1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall

powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.

2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage30.

3.Laytheserveronitssidetogeteasieraccesstothesystemboard.

4.Removetheheatsinkandfanassemblyfromthesystemboard.See“Replacingtheheatsinkand

fanassembly”onpage44.

5.Liftthesmallhandle1andopentheretainer2toaccessthemicroprocessor3.

6.Liftthemicroprocessorstraightupandoutofthesocket.

Notes:

a.Yourmicroprocessorandsocketmightlookdifferentfromtheoneillustrated.

b.Notetheorientationofthemicroprocessorinthesocket.Youcaneitherlookforthesmalltriangle1

ononecornerofthemicroprocessorornotetheorientationofthenotches2onthemicroprocessor.

Thisisimportantwheninstallingthenewmicroprocessoronthesystemboard.

c.Touchonlythesidesofthemicroprocessor.Donottouchthegoldcontactsonthebottom.
